Solarez-Hi-Tech-Overcomes-Surfboard-Repair-Problems-of-runny-resin

Above, traditional resin is too runny, it’s designed for making surfboards, not repairs. Putting it in a tube or tin and calling it a Repair Kit doesn’t make it work. With most resin you need to add a hardener. Too little hardener added will leave your repair sticky, it might never harden. Below, if you add too much hardener you can create a runaway chemical reaction. Your repair will overheat, your resin becoming too brittle and cracking away, falling out of your repair leaving your board worse than before

If a repair is a big complicated job then an experienced Repairer may be the only option. Having your fin box rip out or there’s a huge hole or fin chop in your board you’re going to have to stop surfing in most cases. Get out of the water and get your board repaired. (Our Solarez Pro Kit will fix this kind of repair, ideal to take away on trips).

However most dings and repairs are smaller. While it’s nice to be able to just drop your board off to a Repairer, you may not want to stop surfing or have time without your board. You might also not want to go through the hassle of dealing with a Repairer, and save time and money and fix your board yourself.

Using a Repairer, just dropping your board off and getting it back in pristine condition sounds ideal. Reality is that it can take a lot of time, money, running around. In the end your repair may still be sub-standard. How long do you want to be without your favourite board? Why not save your time and money?

You may have been turned off doing repairs based on what you’ve tried in the past. You know traditional resins are not designed for repairs but for making boards. Being put in a tube or tin and labelled as a repair kit doesn’t make it suitable. Traditional resins are made to be liquid and runny so they spread easily over the whole surface of your board when it’s being made. Apply this same runny liquid to your repair and it ends up a mess. You get sticky resin everywhere.

Traditional resin repair is also weather temperature dependent. Too cold or too hot and you have to change your chemical mix. If you don’t get it right you’re going to have surfboard repair problems

The catalyst hardener added to traditional resin is also fickle. Even when you add the hardener, the resin stays runny, then suddenly goes hard. If you add too little hardener it may be slow to, or never, get hard, always remaining sticky and tacky. Or if you add too much hardener it can cause a chemical reaction that generates heat causing the resin to go brittle, discolour and crack.

Added to this is that the weather, the air temperature. If it’s overcast and cold or extra hot you need to change your resin and catalyst mix. It’s easy to fail and instead of fixing, making your board repair worse.

Solarez-Uses-UV-Sun-Rays-Filled-With-Micro-Fiberglass-Fiber-For-Strength

No chemicals to mix. Solarez uses the sun’s UV rays to go hard and cure. You don’t have to worry about the clouds and cold or heat

Using the latest tech your repairs can be super easy. With Solarez UV resin you don’t use a chemical hardener. You use UV rays. These are the rays of the sun. Simple yet high tech.

Also the Solarez UV resin always remains at the same easy to use consistency. You squeeze it from the tube and it doesn’t run everywhere. It’s a purpose designed thickness that includes millions of micro fiberglass fibers embedded. This helps with the consistency but also importantly gives great strength to the resin.

It’s easy to put the tube close to your repair and squeeze the resin into the area. Do this in the shade and make sure your repair area is filled and covered, then expose to sunlight. In seconds the resin is hard, surfable.

Our kits include sandpaper and if you use a piece of plastic over the resin you can smooth it, then expose to sun, to get a great clean finish without needing any sanding.

The other key aspect of the Solarez repair is that it works in water. So if you’re out surfing you can have a tube in your board short pocket or in your backpack or car. Hit the reef or rock, or another surfer hits you, and a quick squirt while you provide some shade, then put in the sun and you barely stop surfing and have your board repaired.
